Speer only markets their Law Enforcement Gold Dot ammunition to law enforcement agencies. They do not demand that only cops purchase this 38 Special +P ammunition, however. That means if you are a civilian – and you insist on purchasing the very best self-defense ammo for your revolver – you can now order a whole case of it.

This cartridge features its Idahoan manufacturer’s highly acclaimed Gold Dot projectile. The 125 grain jacketed hollow point is comprised of an alloyed lead core with an electrochemically bonded copper jacket. The two components are so tightly fused together that the bullet can penetrate a sheet metal barrier and the threat behind it without shedding more than 95% of its weight, which assures that it conserves sufficient momentum to penetrate to an effective depth. The Gold Dot’s nose cavity is formed during a sequence of two die presses so as to ensure highly uniform terminal expansion. That high-performance JHP is seated in a brass case, which is plated with nickel to grant it added protection against harmful corrosion.

This is specifically 38 Special +P ammunition. It is safe for any 38 Special revolver so long as it is rated for +P. Please consult your revolver’s manual if you’re unsure. All 357 Magnum revolvers and lever-action rifles can safely fire 38 Special +P.
