This is the ideal ammo for long-term storage thanks to the brand new M2A1 ammo can it’s packaged in. This ammo is also packaged for convenience and mobility: all 840 rounds lined up on stipper clips, with six bandoliers to hold all the clips.

This round’s bullet is designated “LAP” for light armor piercing. It’s the same kind of 62 grain FMJ you would find on an M855 “penetrator” round, complete with a steel tip under its jacket (which is painted green for ease of identification).

This ammo attracts a magnet. If a gun range prohibits “magnetic ammo,” then it specifically bans green tip ammo. The M855 round’s armor-piercing capabilities also mean it will damage a steel target, so don’t shoot anything you care about.
