The sleek and balanced 40 grain V-MAX pours out of a rifle’s barrel at a lickety-split muzzle velocity of 3,650 fps. At that rate it establishes the 0.200 G1 ballistic coefficient it needs to soar to 100 yards with barely any change in elevation. If you’re centered up 1.5”, trajectory ought to peak at one one-hundredth of an inch. Impressive!

The V-MAX’s polymer tip has a long tail. It extends down into the swaged lead core’s nose cavity without quite reaching its bottom. The force of impact therefore allows the tip to build up momentum until ultimately colliding with the cavity’s base. At that instant it causes the surrounding lead and thin AMP jacket to burst apart, sending a squall of shrapnel outward in every direction.
