Each cartridge in this case of 200 fires a heavy 77 grain version of the MatchKing at a muzzle velocity of 2,720 feet per second.

2,720 fps is a relatively low velocity for the .223 Remington, as the heavy bullet sacrifices speed for stability. Since external ballistics is more important than terminal ballistics in a match grade round, this is very much a worthwhile tradeoff! A boat-tailed profile stabilizes the projectile even further, making the point of impact as predictable as possible.
